2050 Walsh Road

The Regional District of Nanaimo is presenting the Cedar Playground Public Engagement summary for 2050 Walsh Road to council for information, following 93 public survey responses. The What We Heard report captures community input on the new playground for Cedar Community Park, with respondents prioritizing accessibility, safety surfacing, shade and seating, a fenced play area, and water features. Reception of the engagement summary initiates a defined sequence of project delivery steps: - Develop and issue an RFP for playground design and installation - Post the engagement summary and update on Get Involved RDN - Host an open house to review playground designs (late April 2026) - Select final playground design based on public feedback If the RFP is issued this spring, a design-build contract award could follow in summer 2026, consistent with the construction season.
